Facebook AI Shutdown

Recently Facebook shutdown their Artificial intelligence software unit which was meant to discuss trading, bartering, communication in business. The two pairs of robots used in the above research started using their own language other than English language to communicate between themselves. This made the scientists wonder and before the Robots can master and invade humans, they plugged off the unit. These Robots were trained to learn trade balls, hats and books, give value to the objects. But the Facebook team did not give any value to trade in English. So the Robots created their own language.

Here are the two agents named Bob and Alice which interacted with each other.

Bob: i can i i everything else . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Alice: balls have zero to me to me to me to me to me to me to me to me to me

Bob: you i everything else . . . . . . . . . . . .

Alice: balls have a ball to me to me to me to me to me to me to me

Bob: i i can i i i everything else . . . . . . . . . . . .

Alice: balls have a ball to me to me to me to me to me to

Bob: i . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The phrases used by the robots makes no sense to us, but contain useful information when they are interpreted by robots. According to the research team, these phrases are a language the robots developed to communicate for the exchange of goods. This topic has become a great debate among the scientists. Some scientist were of the view that this technology will be a boon to mankind. But others felt that if robots continued to develop their own language, then it will be a threat to human life.

This reminds me the movie skynet but we are nowhere near to that level of fully automated intelligence.
